On the occasion of Student Day (May 19), it gives me great pleasure to once again express our profound pride in our young students across university lecture halls, institutes, and higher national schools. I also extend my appreciation to all members of the higher education and scientific research community\u2014including experts, professors, and administrative staff\u2014who work tirelessly to elevate the quality of education and training, advance scientific research, and bridge the university’s scientific and intellectual output with economic activity and public life.<\/p>\n
The Algerian people, who take immense pride in you\u2014the youth of our nation\u2014and in your loyalty to the historical sacrifices that remain a source of glory for generations to come, stand at every historical milestone before glimpses of pride and honor. On this specific occasion, we are deeply moved by the memory of a generation that, on May 19, 1956, drove waves of Algerian students at home and abroad to join the ranks of the Liberation Army, both in logistical support positions and on the battlefields.<\/p>\n
Those students, sons of a then-struggling Algeria, belonged within that historical context to a privileged class. Yet, driven by their authentic metal and noble nature, they chose freedom and dignity over the allure of status and privilege; thus, they achieved eternal glory.<\/p>\n
They are immortal through their ever-renewed memory. Indeed, you are their finest successors as you carve your path to success within a university that acts as a true partner in national transformations and keeps pace with technology and knowledge. To this end, the State allocates massive annual budgets, and its infrastructure has been bolstered in recent years with numerous achievements: specialized higher schools, integrated university hubs, and growing financial support for scientific research, creativity, and innovation.<\/p>\n
This underscores the State’s commitment to investing in this sector, ensuring its sustainability, and integrating the university into a modern, productive economy. This is being achieved by attracting talent and expertise, providing an encouraging environment for the academic elite, and valuing the contribution of knowledge in strengthening the foundations of the modern state.<\/p>\n
We have absolute confidence that our students and youth recognize the scale of the reforms witnessed by the higher education and scientific research sector, as well as the strides their country has made across various other sectors, in fulfillment of our pledge to the proud Algerian people and to our righteous martyrs. On this 70th anniversary of Student Day, I join you in recalling their sacrifices with the utmost reverence and esteem, and on this occasion, we devoutly pray for their pure souls to rest in peace.<\/p>\n
