Presentation of the department
With the establishment of the University of M’sila in 2001, and in the academic year 2001-2002, the French Department was opened within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In the year 2012, on the occasion of amending the decree establishing the university, we changed the Faculty of Arts and Languages to the French Language Department.
Formation in gradation
Since its establishment, the department included training within the framework of the French language program in its classic form until the year 2009-2010, when the training began in a gradual manner according to the new system (LMD). The department is supported by training for the master’s degree in 2013 in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 624 of September 24, 2013, in the specialty: teaching French as a foreign language and acculturation.
Formation in postgraduate studies
Within the framework of the Algerian East Pole of the Doctoral School of French, the department worked during its development to train students in postgraduate studies. It began in the year 2005/2006 with a master’s project within the framework of the doctoral school in accordance with the ministerial decision dated: December 18, 2005:
1-Linguistics, including 20 students.
Then, two projects were launched during the academic year 2007/2008 in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 66 dated July 19, 2006, which are:
1- Literary Text Sciences
2- Educational
Agreements and National and International Relations
Cooperation with the Doctoral School of French in the Algerian Eastern Pole
Cooperation with several national universities, including: University of Batna, Biskra, Ouargla
Additionally, international relations have been established, especially with:
The French Cultural Center in Algeria (CCF)
This is within the framework of Algerian-French cooperation and includes the department’s projects, which are particularly realized through:

Exchange of professors and students
Donations in the form of books and scientific publications
Support for postgraduate studies, particularly master’s and doctoral programs within the Doctoral School framework
