Duties of the Vice Dean for Studies and Student Affairs
The Vice Dean for Studies and Student Affairs is responsible for the following tasks:
- Managing and monitoring undergraduate student registrations
- Following up on teaching activities and taking or proposing any measures to improve them
- Maintaining the nominal and statistical list of students

Duties of the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies, Research and External Relations
- Monitor the progress of postgraduate entrance exams
- Take or propose the necessary measures to ensure the progress of postgraduate training
- Oversee the discussion of postgraduate theses and dissertations
- Monitor the progress of research activities
- Initiate partnership work with social and economic sectors
- Initiate actions to promote and support cooperation between national and international universities
- Implement programs to improve the level of teachers and renew their information
- Monitor the progress of the Faculty’s Scientific Council and maintain its archives

The General Secretariat
According to the joint ministerial decision dated: 2004, which specifies the administrative organization of the university directorate, the college, the institute, the university annex and its common services, the general secretariat of the college is responsible for the following:
- Preparing a draft human resource management plan for the college and ensuring its implementation
- Managing the career path of college staff
- Ensuring the management and documentation of the college’s archives and maintaining them
- Preparing a draft college budget and ensuring its implementation
- Promoting scientific, cultural and sports activities for students in coordination with the relevant bodies of the university directorate
- Managing the movable and real estate resources of the college and ensuring their maintenance
- Ensuring the implementation of the college’s internal security plan
To carry out its missions, the General Secretariat of the College includes several services:

Introduction to the faculty
The nucleus of the college was the Institute of Arabic Language and Literature (1998) within the university center. After the creation of the University of M’sila (2001), it evolved into the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and the Department of French was created, thus forming the nucleus of the faculty which came together in the same year to form the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. The English department was also created in 2009. In November 2012, the Faculty of Arts and Languages was officially established as it is today.

Organizational Structure of the faculty
According to Executive Decree No.: 03-279 dated: August 23, 2003, which defines the university’s missions and the rules for its organization and operation, as amended and supplemented. And according to the joint ministerial decision dated: August 24, 2004, which specifies the administrative organization of the university directorate, the college, the institute, the university annex and its common services.
The college “is an educational and research unit in the university in the field of science and knowledge”.
In particular, it carries out the following tasks:
- Training in undergraduate and postgraduate studies
- Research activities
- Continuous training activities, level improvement and knowledge renewal.
It consists of departments and a library and is also provided with a faculty council and a scientific council.
Dean of the faculty
The Dean manages the college and is responsible for its operation. He manages its human, financial and material resources. In this capacity, he:
- Is the ordering officer for the operating appropriations delegated to him by the President of the University
- Appoints college staff for whom no other appointment method has been determined
- Exercises disciplinary authority over all users under his authority
- Attends meetings of the Faculty Council
- Prepares the annual activity report and sends it to the President of the University after approval by the Faculty Council.
He is assisted by two vice-deans, a general secretary of the college, a librarian and heads of departments.

- Proposing acquisition programs for university publications and documentation
- Organizing the documentary collection using the latest processing and ordering methods
- Maintaining the documentary collection and constantly updating the inventory process
- Establishing appropriate conditions for the use of the documentary collection by students and teachers
- Assisting teachers and students in their bibliographic research
Head of Department
The Head of Department is responsible for the pedagogical and administrative management of the department and exercises disciplinary authority over the users under his responsibility.
He is assisted by two assistant heads of department:

- Monitoring student registration and re-registration processes in the undergraduate program
- Ensuring the smooth running of teaching
- Ensuring the smooth running of exams and knowledge assessment tests

- Ensuring the progress of teaching in postgraduate programs
- Ensuring the follow-up of research activities
- Ensuring the follow-up of the work of the scientific evaluation committee
