Department of Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering specialization is also considered one of the first programs established in the late 1980s at the University Center of M’sila, which at that time was a Civil Engineering Institute. This continued until the promotion of the University Center of M’sila to a university-level institution, when it was divided into faculties and became part of the Faculty of Science and Technology. With the establishment of the Faculty of Technology during the 2009‑2010 academic year, the program was transferred and has since belonged to the Faculty of Technology, as it does today.

Since its establishment, the department has been recognized as a leading center for acquiring knowledge in the field of construction and engineering. Following the adoption of the LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorate) system, a new educational structure was introduced to align with this system and facilitate student mobility.

The department currently offers several academic programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels:

• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in accordance with Decision No. 724 dated August 5, 2015.
• Master’s in Engineering Materials, Master’s in Structures, and Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering in accordance with Decision No. 1371 dated August 9, 2016.

Additionally, the department previously offered a doctoral program under the classical system, accessible to holders of a Master’s degree. With the implementation of the new LMD system, three doctoral specializations were opened corresponding to the Master’s programs: Structures, Materials, and Geotechnical Engineering.

Looking ahead, the department aims to introduce additional specializations in the future.

It aligns with the economic and social environment of the region in particular, and with the country as a whole.
