Presentation of the department
It was opened during the 1998/1999 academic season as an institute for Arabic language and literature at the University Center in M’sila. With the establishment of the University of M’sila in 2001, it was transformed into a department of Arabic Language and Literature within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In the year 2012, on the occasion of the amendment to the decree establishing the university, it changed within the Faculty of Arts and Languages to the Department of Arabic Language and Literature.
Formation in gradation
Since its establishment, the department has provided training within the framework of the Arabic language and literature program in its classical form. Then the training began gradually according to the new system (LMD). Master’s studies also began in 2010.
Formation in postgraduate studies
During its development, the department worked to train students in postgraduate studies. He began in the year 2005/2006 with two master’s projects in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No. 81 of August 26, 2006: Modern Algerian Literature, Ancient Arabic Literature.
Then three projects during the academic year 2007/2008 in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No.: 154 of August 2, 2007, which are: modern Arabic criticism, Algerian popular literature, dramaturgy, and theatrical criticism.
In addition to a project within the framework of the doctoral school with the University of Batna in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No.: 224 dated: July 22, 2009, which is: Literary Criticism,
In 2011, I also opened three projects: performances and poetry music, theater criticism in Algeria, and popular literature
In 2013, one project was approved: Discourse analysis and text science, and in training for the doctorate (Doctor of Science) and granting university qualifications. Registration for doctorates and university qualifications began in 2010 in accordance with the ministerial decision dated: November 4, 2010, in the Division: Arabic Literature.
As for doctoral training (LLD), registration for it began in 2013 in accordance with Ministerial Resolution No.: 487 of July 15, 2013. This was in the Department: Arabic Literature, entitled: Modern Arabic Literature, in the following specializations: Modern Arabic Literature, Algerian Literature, Modern literary criticism
