University of M’sila ranked 1 Nationally in UniRank Ranking

As every six months, the ranking by the international higher education research engine “UniRank” has published its ranking of the best universities and schools in the world. This ranking, which has become a reference since 2005, attracts the attention of all academic institutions around the world every year. To establish its ranking, UniRank relies in particular on the popularity of campuses on the web based on criteria such as their search engine referencing or their audience, with the help of five companies specializing in these topics. 13,600 officially recognized universities and schools in 200 countries are ranked. According to the February 2021 edition of the ranking, M’Sila University is the first nationally and 26 on the African scale (https://www.4icu.org/top-universities-africa/).The other two Algerian universities that followed were the University of “Frères Mentouri” of Contantine, and the University of Tlemcen. The American institutions take precedence: MIT, Harvard and Stanford open the rankings, followed by seven other American universities in the top 10. The continental champion in higher education is the University of Cape Town in South Africa. To calculate the position in the UniRank ranking, a special algorithm is used based on independent indicators carefully processed and collected from popular web sources around the world such as Moz Domain Authority, Alexa Global Rank, SimilarWeb Global Rank, and Majestic.  The formula for combining the 5 Web metrics is not disclosed for copyright reasons and to minimize attempts to manipulate universities to achieve better results.  The ranking aims to help students and teachers around the world understand the popularity of a certain university in another country.

Today, the University of M’Sila with its 37,000 students and 1,500 professor researchers is recognized in Algeria as a leading university in the fields of mathematics, physics, arts and others.

It should be noted that for the second year in a row, the University of M’Sila is the first Algerian university in the ranking of the Algerian National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) of patent applicants. By supporting researchers who produce research results targeting innovations, the university is fueling an ambitious innovation policy, said Dr. Mir, director of the university’s incubator.

According to Pr. Benouadah El Hachemi, Vice-Rector of External Relations, this ranking demonstrates that the efforts initiated to enable our university to spread internationally are beginning to bear fruit. The University of M’Sila has fully integrated the internal visibility and external visibility of African campuses. It is clear that today digital marketing is among the means that can be deployed to give a coherent brand image, directly linked to our targets and objectives and to present our added values to higher education. Of course, the quality of our training, faculty, infrastructure, equipment, and the innovations we offer are the foundation and the very essence of our reputation, added the Vice-Rector.
