a symposium on “Valuation and Validation of the Acquisitions of Professional Skills”

The University of M’sila, in an unprecedented action, held today in the auditorium  “Abd El Madjid Alahoum” a symposium on “Valuation and Validation of the Acquisitions of Professional Skills” in the presence of the Head of the Industry and Mining, experts on university reforms, representatives of the Ministry of Vocational Training and representatives of the most important economic institutions on the territory of the province as “Hodna Lait”, “LafargeHolcim Cement”, Power generation company, Company of “Industrial Equipment Maintenance” «MEI», “Hodna Solar”, “Maghreb Pipe “, and the Youth Support and Employment Agency of M’sila.

The President of the University, Mr. Kamal Badari, had made an opening speech, where he mentioned  the efforts made by the university to strengthen relations between the university and the economic institutions, that led to the creation of several  bodies and structures at University, such as the activity of the incubator, the “liaison office” between the university and the economic institution, “Entrepreneurship House “, and the creation of a link between the university and the economic institution at the level of each faculty. Also, Several partnership agreements were signed with a large number of economic institutions.The work of this symposium confirmed the role of the university in the openness to its socio-economic environment through the development of a future project aiming at the valuation of the acquisitions of the experience and validation of the acquisitions of professional skills.The participants presented interventions on how to identify and validate skills in the institution. In this context, the works of the symposium were divided into two workshops. The first workshop was devoted to the identification of these professional skills, the second workshop to determine the committee of skills selection and assessment.Objective: Research for mechanisms to identify and value the skills.This symposium ended with a number of recommendations that will be submitted to the supervising Ministry:

  • Adopt a guide unifying the professional skills emanating from the State economic institutions by using the guide “CRAFE” developed by Mohammed Boudiaf University.
  • Establish a joint committee between the university and the economic institution to identify and validate skills.
  • Propose a joint committee for skills assessment and selection at the economic institutions.
  • Develop a draft ministerial resolution on how to validate the professional skills which will be submitted to the Ministry.
  • Propose regulatory texts for the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to validate the skills acquired in the economic institution.

Professor Kamal Badari, president of the university, finally affirmed the need for the openness of the university to all segments of society, including those who have not acquired professional skills, non-graduates and the unemployed. Thus, the societal responsibility of the university dictates that we not marginalize these categories. But, this raises the challenge of making them competent categories, as well as the importance of this ambition to promote the values ​​of citizenship in society.
