University of M’sila hosts the National Exhibition of Innovation

   The University of Mohamed Boudiaf in M’sila hosted the  11th edition of the National Exhibition of Innovation, under the slogan “Your Idea is Your Innovation” in celebration of the National Day of Innovation, which falls on December 7th of each year, in the auditorium Iben El-Haitham at 9:30 a.m., In partnership with the International Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) in the presence of the Prefect (Wali) of the Province, Mr. Abdelkader Djellaoui, local authorities, security authorities, University Rector Prof. Badari Kamal, Director-General of the National Institute of Industrial Property, Director of the Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Algeria, representative of the Ministry of Industry, University community, journalists, and a number of representatives of economic institutions, administrative bodies, many researchers, students and interested people, and with the participation of the General Directorate of National Security.

   First of all, The rector of the university gave an opening speech, who confirmed that the organization of this event came within the framework of the openness of the university to its socio-economic environment. The idea of innovation is one of the goals of the project of the Institution 2017-2022, pointing out that the University of M’sila seeks to be a link between holders of innovative ideas, inventors and economic institutions.

     Then, the prefect (Wali) of the Province, the representative of the Ministry of Industry, the Director General of the National Institute of Industrial Property and the Director of the Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization of Algeria Mr. Ahmed Othmane Mohamed Salek gave their speech one by one, who stressed that the selection of the University of M’sila as an incubator for the National Exhibition of Innovation did not come by chance but through the position of the University of M’sila nationally in terms of patent filing over 3 years. Thus, the effective dynamic of promotion of innovation and Innovators is the reason why the International Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization and the National Institute of Industrial Property have chosen the University of M’sila for this exhibition.

   After the opening speech, the official delegation went to the exhibition in the Coworking Space of the incubator; on the 1st floor of the Central Library, to visit inventors and holders of innovative ideas from around the country, and to announce the start of the exhibition by the Prefect of M’sila. Also, a press conference was hold to introduce the objectives of the exhibition and the most important activities that will take place throughout December 7 and 8, 2021; such as: workshops and competitions for students, research professors, small and medium institutions and holders of innovative projects.

    In the afternoon,  the national competition for the best patent was launched. Since the decree was issued, the Institute has awarded each year the Best Invention Award; which is a symbolic award aimed at rewarding the best Algerian inventors, which will celebrate its 27th anniversary this year. For this purpose,  the selection committee of experts and specialists in the process of evaluating the participating inventions has begun to select the top three patents to be awarded at the end of the national exhibition.

For the record, the exhibition included the Little Genius competition, from which the organizers aim to instill the spirit of innovation and creativity in children.

More than 100 inventors and exhibitors from across the country, in addition to 37 small geniuses from four Province have participated in this event.

     The exhibition will be held for two full days. It is one of the most important national events, and  is at the heart of the general strategy of the State, which stipulates the need to encourage young people and innovators to enter the world of innovations. This exhibition is an occasion for meeting inventors and researchers from different areas of the country in one place and in front of a significant number of investors and representatives of economic institutions, which will create direct interaction between inventors and investors that will mainly reflect on local and national development.
