Historical Brief

The Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities was established by Executive Decree No. 10/38, dated 9 Safar 1431 AH, corresponding to January 25, 2010. This decree amended and supplemented Executive Decree No. 01/274, dated 30 Jumada II 1422 AH, corresponding to September 18, 2001, which established the University of M’sila. Specifically, Article 1 of the decree defines the number of faculties and institutes that make up the University of M’sila and their areas of specialization. The institute was created within the framework of promoting the Department of Sports Management and Administration in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 03/03/2003, establishing a specialized institute at the university, especially after the introduction of new branches and specializations under the LMD system (License, Master, and Doctorate).

The library of the Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities at Mohamed Boudiaf University – M’sila – is a branch library that contains a collection of essential books for the academic subjects that serve both students and the teaching staff. The library plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of education and excellence by supporting university studies. Around 700 undergraduate students from various years and specializations are registered, while approximately 565 master’s degree students are enrolled, with numbers continuously increasing. Additionally, about 94 professors are regular users of the library.

The Library’s Documented Collection (Sources)

The library of the institute provides the following resources for students, faculty, and staff:

1) Printed Materials and Books:

The library contains a number of printed books covering all fields and specializations relevant to each department of the institute. It should be noted that the library has been supplied with books as follows:

  • In 2011, approximately 227 titles from the International Book House, and in the same year, around 803 additional titles from the same publisher.
  • In 2012, the library acquired 369 titles from the International Book House.
  • In 2013, the library received around 530 titles.
  • In 2014, approximately 550 titles were added.
  • In 2015, around 734 titles were included, contributing to continuous knowledge enrichment.
  • By 2018, the total number of copies in the library had reached about 16,855, representing the current total collection. As for foreign-language books, there are approximately 458 titles in French.

 2) Graduation Theses :

The library also contains a large number of graduation theses, categorized by academic degree for the students of the Institute of Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports Activities. These theses are classified according to the academic level.

For the first batch of Master’s graduates from the institute, there were 25 theses.

Additionally, the library has a special journal dedicated to the contributions of the faculty members in the scientific activities of the institute. The library also receives donations, such as those from Mr. Tétouni El-Deraji, a retired sports education inspector. These donations include books and magazines specifically related to sports and physical education.
