On Monday, October 20, 2025, Dr. Hani Lakhdar, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Chikouche Nouraldine, Vice-Rector for Pedagogy, and Dr. Ayed Lamine, Vice-Rector for Development and Prospective Studies, presided over the opening of the national conference “The Qur’anic Discourse in Light of New Rhetoric” at the Faculty of Arts and Languages. The forum was organized by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and the Laboratory of Theoretical and Applied Linguistic Studies.
The forum was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Professor Nouiri Ibrahim, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Professor Mohamed Khatim Al-Eid, a select group of professors and researchers from various Algerian universities, and a notable attendance of faculty students.
The forum began with a speech by its chair, Dr. Raqeeb Amina, who welcomed the participants and attendees, highlighting the importance of this scientific meeting as a space for academic and intellectual dialogue on “Quranic discourse in light of new rhetoric.”
This was followed by a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Languages, Professor Lakhdar Heni, who presented the forum as an epistemological necessity aimed at overcoming the shortcomings of traditional approaches. These approaches, despite their grandeur, have often been limited to aesthetic description, confining the miraculous nature of the text to its syntax and imagery (rhetoric and figurative language), thereby obscuring its most important aspect: its argumentative power and overall persuasive and influential function.
This was followed by a speech by the Vice-Chancellor in charge of pedagogy, Professor Chikouche Nourredine, who expressed his pride in the University of M’Sila hosting this national conference, praising the good organization and the level of scientific participation, and affirming the university’s support for such academic events, which
