On the occasion of commemorating the 71st anniversary of the outbreak of the glorious War of Liberation (November 1, 1954), the Laboratory of Studies and Research on the Algerian Revolution at Mohamed Boudiaf University of M’sila organized a national seminar titled: “The Hadna Region and its Contribution to the War of Liberation.”
The event took place on the morning of Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Abdelhamid Ben Badis Hall in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Rehab Mokhtar. The opening ceremony of the seminar was presided over by the University’s Vice-Rector for External Relations, Professor Djarboui Slim, on behalf of the University Rector.
This seminar was organized to immortalize the honorable history of struggle charted by the people of the Hadna region during the national liberation movement, embodying the spirit of fidelity to the memory of the martyrs (Chouhada) and veterans (Mujahideen).
The seminar commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran and the National Anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from the Laboratory Director, Professor Dr. Abdellah Megueglati, and the Head of the Department, Professor Dr. Abdelhamid Omrane.
The event featured two scientific sessions that focused on the militant and historical role of the Hadna region in the War of Liberation. Interventions by researchers from M’sila University covered topics such as: the features of local struggle, live testimonies from the Mujahideen, the revolutionary activity of Sheikh Ibrahim Ben Yattou, revolutionary landmarks in Bou Saada, and the contributions of religious and scientific figures in supporting the Revolution.
The seminar addressed several key themes, most notably:
- The contribution of the M’sila region to the National Movement and the Algerian Revolution.
- Figures of the Hadna region and the national memory, through oral narratives, manuscripts, and archives.
- The teaching of revolutionary history in Algerian universities.
The seminar witnessed a distinguished attendance of professors, researchers, and students, in addition to Mujahideen and active participants in the historical and cultural fields. Emphasis was placed on the importance of academic documentation of the Revolution’s history and preserving the memory of the heroes.
The seminar concluded in an atmosphere filled with national pride, with recommendations calling for encouraging scientific research on the local history of the Algerian Revolution, and collecting oral and archival narratives specific to the Hadna region, which remains a symbol of authenticity and ancient history, and a source of the free men who contributed to forging the glory of Algeria, generation after generation.
