Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1985 to provide training in applied studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering.

In 1987, the department launched engineering degree programs in the specializations of Energy Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, and Mechanical Construction. It also introduced applied studies programs in Mechanical Engineering, with specializations in Mechanical Manufacturing and Industrial Maintenance, with the aim of meeting the needs of the economic sector in the region.

Currently, 37 professors and researchers—most of whom are Associate Professors (Class A)—supervise around 400 students. With the introduction of the LMD system, the department offers academic programs (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) in Mechanical Construction, Energy, Materials, Manufacturing, and Modeling. It also provides professional Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Maintenance.

Significant importance is given to external relations through national and international scientific cooperation, as well as the development of research benefiting the socio-economic sector. This is achieved through partnerships with MEI (Sonelgaz) in M’sila, the Welding Center in Chéraga (Algiers), and ACC Company.

Mechanical Engineering training in M’sila opens up broad prospects and opportunities, both professionally (employment) and in the field of research. Areas such as mechanical construction (automotive, aerospace, naval, etc.), energy, environment, health, and many others represent sectors with a high demand for Mechanical Engineering graduates.
