Illustrated lectures on basketball, directed to first-year students in common basic formation.
Introduction:
Basic skills in basketball are considered the backbone of the game, and include all the necessary, purposeful movements within the framework of the law of the game, whether these movements are with or without the ball.
The player’s basic position or preparatory position:
The most important characteristic of this stance is the balance of the body, which is considered one of the most important basic principles in basketball. This balance is considered the starting point for all movements.
The basic position of each player depends on this balance, which requires the following:
-The opening between the feet should be a suitable and comfortable opening.
-The body weight should be equally divided between the feet.
-The body should be tilted slightly forward and as much as the player’s comfort allows.
-The knees should be slightly bent and in a comfortable position. -As for the arms, they are in a natural position and help with balance.
-The gaze must be directed forward.
