Training Day on the Methodology of Preparing a Graduation Thesis: Construction and Analysis Mechanisms – Department of Sociology

Problem Statement:

Scientific research methodology is an important and necessary process for scientific research. Research without it will lack organization and accuracy. Therefore, scientific methodology is a system of clear rules and procedures upon which research is built, and knowledge claims are evaluated based on it. Research methodology begins from the moment the researcher observes the scientific research problem, begins to observe it, and then follows a scientific path that helps him understand and interpret this problem. Research in sociology, like other scientific research, also has a scientific path, where Kivi and Combenhoud see this path as a play consisting of three acts: cutting, building, and verifying, and the scenes of these acts are the stages of research. These stages begin with a problem and end with writing the research report, so understanding this sequence in the steps of research is necessary for research processes.

Based on the above, the importance of the training lies in which we try to address the methodological problems and difficulties that the graduate student may encounter during his graduation research, and then enable him to design his research in a scientific and objective methodological way.

Objectives of the Pedagogical Training Day:

  • Answering research concerns and questions that arise for graduating students during the preparation of their graduation thesis;
  • Providing the student with the most important knowledge and methods for how to build and prepare his graduation research;

Axes of the Pedagogical Training Day:

  • Building the problem
  • Formulating hypotheses (conceptual analysis of the hypothesis)
  • Choosing the appropriate method and tools and how to use them
  • Previous studies and their use in research
  • Sample selection
  • Data unloading and analysis.
