Further to the correspondence we received regarding Algeria’s participation in the 2026 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes, organized annually by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on the occasion of the WSIS Forum, I am pleased to inform you that four (4) Algerian projects have been shortlisted for the next round:
Project 1: Category 1 — AL C1. The role of governments and all stakeholders in the promotion of ICTs for development. Project Title: DigiTrust Network: Community-Powered Digital Inclusion Platform for Africa
Project 2: Category 2 — AL C2. Information and communication infrastructure. Project Title: AI for Digital Inclusion (AIDI)
Project 3: Category 3 — AL C3. Access to information and knowledge Project Title: AI-Driven Building Footprint for FTTH Inclusive Connectivity Planning
-Project 4: In Category 16 — AL C9. Media Project Title: DZ CHECKNEWS
In this regard, we urge all employees and professors to vote for the Algerian projects through the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) online platform dedicated to the competition, which can be accessed via the following link: https://www.itu.int/net4/wsis/stocktaking/Prizes/2026
The voting process, which is conducted in stages as outlined in the voting guide available for download on the website of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, will close on May 5, 2026. 22:00 Algeria time. It should be noted that the five (5) projects that will receive the highest number of votes in each category will move to the second stage where they will be examined by the International Telecommunication Union’s expert committee, which will select the winning project in each category. We also inform you that the winning projects will be officially announced during the awards ceremony that will be held during the World Summit on the Information Society 2026 Forum, scheduled to take place from 6 to 10 July 2026
