The Second Doctoral Day for Monitoring PhD Theses in Regular Standing

🎓📢 The Faculty of Arts and Languages Hosts the Second Doctoral Day for Monitoring PhD Theses in Regular Standing
As part of the commitment of the Faculty of Arts and Languages at Mohamed Boudiaf University of M’Sila to enhancing the quality of scientific research and overseeing the progress of third-cycle (doctoral) training, the Faculty hosted the “Second Doctoral Day for Monitoring PhD Theses in Regular Standing” on the morning of Wednesday, October 14, 2026. The event was held under the supervision of the Vice-Dean for Scientific Research, Postgraduate Studies, and External Relations.
👥 The meeting saw a significant turnout, including project coordinators, the Head of the English Department and her administrative staff, members of the doctoral training committees, the Head of the Postgraduate Studies Office, and PhD students in regular standing from both the English and French departments.
📚 This gathering served as an important academic and organizational milestone to assess the progress, quality, originality, and scientific impact of the research. Discussions focused on several key areas:
🔹 📊 Monitoring Thesis Progress: Reviewing the academic and administrative status of each student, evaluating the progress achieved, identifying challenges encountered, and exploring potential pathways to complete the research within the stipulated deadlines.
🔹 📝 Monitoring Scientific Publication: Assessing the status of the scientific articles required for the thesis defense—whether published, accepted for publication, or submitted to academic journals—while emphasizing the importance of high-quality, rigorous publishing that reflects the true scientific value of the research. 🔹 ⏳ Adherence to Timelines and Research Quality: Participants emphasized the necessity of avoiding delays in the completion of doctoral theses, as such delays can negatively impact the originality, quality, and contemporary relevance of the research. Distinguished scientific research is not merely about fulfilling procedural requirements; it demands adherence to timelines, innovation, depth, and a substantive contribution to knowledge.
🔹 💡 Funding Research Needs: The meeting addressed ways to support the needs of doctoral students and examined the requirements essential for facilitating their research projects—in preparation for the 2027 fiscal year—to ensure an environment conducive to producing high-quality scientific research.
🤝 Organizing this “Doctoral Day” underscores the importance of ongoing coordination between the administration, academic supervisors, training committees, and doctoral students. This collaboration serves as a cornerstone for effectively monitoring the progress of scientific research, enhancing its outcomes, and elevating the quality of university education.
🎯 The ultimate goal is not simply to complete a thesis, but to generate original knowledge, conduct rigorous scientific research, and provide a genuine contribution that advances the field of study.
