Doctoral Day: Addressing Delayed Doctoral Theses
As part of the commitment of the Faculty of Arts and Languages at Mohamed Boudiaf University of M’Sila to oversee the progress of third-cycle (doctoral) studies and to assess the status of delayed doctoral theses, a “Doctoral Day” was held on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The event took place under the personal supervision of the Dean of the Faculty and was initiated by the Vice-Dean’s office in charge of postgraduate studies, scientific research, and external relations.
👥 This meeting brought together the concerned doctoral students, their supervisors, and administrative representatives to:
🔹 Evaluate the current academic status of each doctoral student and determine the progress made on their theses.
🔹 Emphasize the necessity for students to fulfill their academic and administrative obligations, and to adhere to the established deadlines for completing and defending their theses.
🔹 Identify practical and effective solutions to resolve issues surrounding delayed doctoral theses, helping students overcome the challenges and obstacles encountered during their research journey.
🔹 Address instances where research has been interrupted, discuss the status of students who have ceased work on their theses, and examine appropriate measures in light of current ministerial regulations and deadlines.
🔹 Strengthen coordination among students, supervisors, and the faculty administration to ensure a diligent and responsible follow-up on individual cases, and to take necessary actions in accordance with applicable regulatory provisions. ⚖️ The meeting emphasized that the completion of doctoral theses is a shared responsibility. It requires seriousness and commitment from students, guidance and follow-up from supervisors, and effective coordination with the faculty administration—all with the aim of reaching practical solutions that uphold the rights of all parties while adhering to established regulations.
🤝 The Faculty of Arts and Languages reaffirms its ongoing commitment to supporting doctoral students, overcoming the challenges they face, and elevating the quality of third-cycle (doctoral) education and scientific research to the desired standard.
